With a restructured line up, Ballarat went into the game against Baw Baw hoping for its first win of the season.  Ballarat opened well, with two short corners in the first five minutes and the forwards looking very positive.  Against the flow of play, Baw Baw scored a goal at the 6 minute mark.  Ballarat replied with forward moves. Lincoln Stephen delivered a long pass to Alistair Gribble who had a shot on goal and hit the post.  3 minutes later a bad tackle from Baw Baw resulted in a stroke and Lincoln Stephen scored.  Ballarat went into half time with the score 1 all.

At the start of the second half, Baw Baw looked more focused, with scoring opportunities from 7 short corners.  Ballarat's defence of Jesse Anderson, Gavin Mann and Jason Hargreaves held firm, withstanding the pressure.  Ballarat's confidence started to grow with long runs through the mid field by Richard Ford and Lincoln Stephen.  A long run and pass from Richard Ford resulted in Alistair Gribble scoring at the 30 minute mark.  With five minutes to go in the game, Ballarat held a 2 - 1 lead.  A poor tackle in defence gave Baw Baw a stroke and a chance to equal the score.  Baw Baw scored, making the score 2 all.  Against the flow of play, Baw Baw scored another goal on the siren, defeating Ballarat 3 - 2.
